Safeguarding Policy

The safety and wellbeing of our clients is paramount. As online advisors and professionals we recognise the unique challenges and responsibilities inherent in providing remote services. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to promoting a safe and supportive environment for all members and clients engaging in online sessions and communications.

Confidentiality and Privacy:

  • We prioritise client confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • All client information, including session content and personal details are treated with the utmost confidentiality and stored securely in compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
  • Confidentiality will only be breached in cases where there is a risk of harm to the client or others. 

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • We conduct thorough risk assessment during sessions to identify any concerns related to self-harm, suicide, abuse, or other safeguarding issues. 
  • In the event of immediate risk or emergency appropriate steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the client, including contacting emergency services, providing necessary support and signposting to other resources. 
  • Concerns and actions will be noted in any written reports held. 
  • An email follow up will be sent to the client where there are concerns providing them with information on available resources suitable for them. 

Informed Consent and Boundaries:

  • Informed consent will be obtained from clients, where appropriate based on professional judgement, outlining the rights, responsibilities and limitations of both the session provider/professional and the client. 
  • Healthy boundaries will be maintained throughout, to ensure the professional nature of the relationship and to prevent any harm or exploitation.





Continuous Professional Development:

  • All providers and professionals are committed to ongoing professional development and training in areas relevant to safeguarding, session type/specialty and ethical practice. 
  • All providers and professionals will stay informed about emerging issues, best practices, and legal requirements related to their practice and safeguarding.

Reporting and Referral Procedures:

  • Any concerns or disclosures regarding risk of harm to the client or others will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.
  • In cases where safeguarding concerns are identified, appropriate authorities and support services will be notified in accordance with legal and ethical obligations.
  • We will signpost to relevant support agencies and prorfessionals to ensure that clients receive the necessary support and access to intervention. 

Client Support and Resources:

  • Clients will be provided with information about available support services, crisis hotlines and community resources to assist them in accessing additional support as needed.
  • We will recommend ongoing support of follow-up care to clients experiencing distress or facing safeguarding issues, including referral to specialist services when appropriate.

Review and Evaluation:

  • This safeguarding policy will be reviewed and evaluated regularly to ensure its effectiveness and relevance to our services.
  • Feedback from clients and stakeholders will be solicited and considered in the ongoing development and improvement of our safeguarding practices.
